David L. Blunt graduated from the University of Missouri in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and in 1977 with a law degree. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Missouri, Alabama and Florida as well as the U.S. Supreme Court and multiple Federal District courts and courts of appeal.
Dave has always been a staunch union supporter. He was primarily raised by his grandparents in southeast Missouri where his grandfather worked 47 years in the lead mines and helped the steelworkers organize the mines in the early 1960’s. Dave saw firsthand the hardships the strikers had to endure at the hands of a large corporation when all the workers wanted was a decent living wage and safe working conditions.
Since 1977 Dave has practiced personal injury and Federal Employees’ Liability Act cases. In 1984 he opened his own law firm in Edwardsville, IL where he also raised his family with his wife Kelly. Today he continues in the practice of FELA and personal injury cases and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.
It has been, and remains, a great privilege for Dave and his firm to represent thousands of working people and their families over the years and obtain justice on their behalf. It is the collective hope of Blunt Slocomb that our efforts heave helped improve safety in the railroad industry and our communities as well.
One of Blunt Slocomb’s greatest sources of pride has been named as Designated Legal Counsel for the BMWED. These men and women are the hardest working people on America’s railroads and it is truly an honor to be a small part of their brotherhood by enforcing their rights under the FELA.
